I'm biased as a participant in their yearly 2nd Creek War battle reenactment, but this is a very special place! They are kid friendly, as mentioned in another review, and have events throughout the year. The Creek War on Memorial day, 4th of July celebration, are highlights of their activities. This is an impressive collection of pre-1850 buildings arranged as a town if the early 1800s might have been laid out, complete with a surgeon's office, school room, churches, and even an early 1800s Masonic lodge! Definitely worth a visit.
Firstly we are sad to report that Historic Westville is closed but happy to report that it will reopen at a new site in or near Columbus, Georgia.
We have visited Historic Westville several times, each time was a very pleasant experience. It is most entertaining on their special occasions when the town is alive with all sorts of demonstrations and entertainment. I've enjoyed some of the best Bluegrass performances in the little church just down the road from the entrance.
Overall I feel this is a good place to visit. It may depend on the time of year though. In the Fall there weren't many demonstrations. I just toured the historic buildings on went on a mule wagon tour. Good place for the family to go.
Can be a little boring depending on your interest in history.
We are very much looking forward to their reopening even though they'll be a bit further up the highway from us.
One of my favorite places to visit. It is very kid friendly, and the staff is awesome. You learn something new every time you visit, very educational.
